Like fashion, the beauty industry has a "forever chemicals" problem, according to a new study that found perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, in cosmetic products sold in the US and Canada across a range of categories and price points. PFAS, known as forever chemicals because of how long they persist in the environment, have been linked to widespread health and environmental problems.
