Radio host and entrepreneur Charlamagne Tha God is producing the first Black Effect Podcast Festival in partnership with iHeartMedia, aimed at celebrating and amplifying Black voices in the podcast industry. The event will take place Sunday, Aug. 28, at the Brooklyn Mirage's Avant Gardner venue in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Charlamagne Tha God will join popular personalities from the Black Effect Podcast Network for a day full of live podcast recordings and discussions. The festival will be hosted by comedian Lil Duval and Power 105.1 DJ and personality Nyla Symone. Charlamagne Tha God teamed with iHeartMedia two years ago to launch the Black Effect Podcast Network. His deal with iHeartMedia as co-host of New York's Power 105's nationally syndicated radio show "The Breakfast Club" runs through 2025. Red Rocks rumbled Tuesday night for the likes of Glass Animals and opener Denzel Curry. The loose pebbles shook in the presence of the punching bass. Noise exuded from the stands and stage as voice met the mic and the speakers translated the energy — and this was only midway through Denzel Curry's set. Glass Animals were still to come. EAST GREENBUSH — At Zachary's Pastry Shoppe, it takes 19 pounds of butter to make one 15-gallon batch of buttercream frosting. This week, owner Dan Raymond (above) and his two-person staff in the bakery's basement production kitchen filled five 55-gallon plastic barrels with frosting. That works out to about 350 pounds of butter for 275 gallons of frosting. By midafternoon on Friday, three of the barrels at Zachary's were empty, with two more in reserve to frost cakes and cupcakes needed to fill the approximately 100 orders going out on Friday and Saturday, including for multiple high school graduation parties and six weddings, plus more to stock the shop's retail cases, for those who neglected to order ahead.
