What is the Perfect Buttermilk Chocolate Cake?
Ingredients Needed
- ¼ cup water
- 8 oz. butter (2 sticks)
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 1 3/4 cups soft brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
- 1½ cups sifted icing sugar
- ½ cup butter
- ¼ cup sifted cocoa
How Make Buttermilk Chocolate Cake
- Preheat oven to 360°F and line and grease the base and sides of an 11-inch baking tin.
- Heat water and butter together in a saucepan, then add cocoa powder and stir until dissolved; do not boil.
- Add buttermilk and vanilla, then add hot cocoa mixture and give it a really good stir.
- Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together, then add to the cocoa mixture and mix well again.
- Pour mixture into the cake tin and bake for 50-55 minutes. Let it cool in the tin.
