The journey to fitness is not just about indulging in regular physical activity but also about eating right. And, losing weight doesn't mean you need to give up on everything delicious. After all, weight loss could be yummy, too! As such, how about preparing a delicious meal which is not just delightful but also equally healthy for you?

Taking to Instagram, actor Juhi Parmar recently shared the recipe for masala quinoa upma which can be prepared in a jiffy. "Weekends are for binging but Monday gets us back into the routine! Cooking up a healthy yet yummy Masala Quinoa Upma which not only is perfect as a meal but also helps in weight loss! Try it out," she wrote, alongside a video of her demonstrating the recipe.

Ingredients

*Quinoa
*Oil, 1 tbsp
*Asafoetida, 1/2 tsp
*Cumin, 1/2 tsp
*Garlic, chopped
*Green chillies, chopped
*Onion, chopped
*Green peas
*Carrot, chopped
*Tomato, chopped
*Turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp
*Coriander powder, 1 tsp
*Red chilli powder, as per taste
*Garam masala, 1/2 tsp
*Salt, as per taste

Method

*Soak one cup of quinoa for 15-20 minutes.
*In a pan, heat oil and add asafoetida and cumin.
*Now, add some chopped garlic and green chillies. Saute them for some time.
*Add a medium-sized chopped onion to the pan followed by veggies of your choice. "I used green peas and carrots," Juhi said.
*Cover and cook till they turn soft.
*Now, add chopped tomato, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, and salt.
*Add a little amount of water to the pan so that the masala doesn't get burnt.
*Add the soaked quinoa along with two cups of water.
*Cover the pan and let it cook till the quinoa is cooked properly.

But, do quinoa upma aid in weight loss? Answering, Manisha Chopra, Nutritionist, Dietician and Fitness Expert, said, "There is insoluble fibre in quinoa upma. Consequently, when you include it in your diet, it makes you feel heavy or full for a long period and prevents overeating. It is also abundant in proteins and dietary fibres, which aid in maintaining a very good metabolism and, as a result, help you control your appetite and calorie intake. "

"Quinoa contains a lot of fibre, which is crucial for good health. If you want to maintain your weight and support intestinal health, your diet can benefit from additional fibre-rich foods," she added.
