'I look Facetuned': Make up artist tries a cheap $5 foundation she saw promoted on Facebook - and is SHOCKED by the incredible results

  • Kirstie Roche was being inundated with Facebook ads from Phoera foundation
  • The Gold Coast-based mother decided to purchase a $5 bottle of the formula
  • She trialled it out in a makeup tutorial on YouTube and was pleasantly surprised
  • Kirstie said she looked like a 'Facetune version' of herself with the $12 liquid on

When Australian makeup artist Kirstie Roche started seeing Phoera foundation videos popping up on her Facebook feed, she was immediately drawn in by the before and after snaps.

So as an experiment, she decided to buy the $5 makeup and see whether it was really worth the hype - and she was pleasantly surprised by the results.

'The ad got me. It made me buy the product. I haven't watched any of the reviews and no big YouTubers have reviewed it so I thought I'd give it a try,' she said on her YouTube channel.

AFTER: The Gold Coast-based mother purchased the $12 foundation in a light shade from the Chinese retailer, initially very sceptical about it

The Gold Coast-based mother purchased the $12 foundation in a light shade from the Chinese retailer, initially very sceptical about it.

'It claims to be oil-free, silicon-free and reduces the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles,' she read out on camera.

It asks shoppers to apply the product with a brush rather than a beauty blender sponge so Kirstie followed the instructions.

'I'm actually really liking how that's looking on my skin. It has evened out my pores and covered some of my freckles,' she said.

'It's not a super matte, dry formula even though it's a lot thicker than other foundations I've used.'

After applying the rest of her makeup Kirstie took in the full effect - and was visibly impressed.

'I freaking love it. I look like a walking Facetune version of myself. It's sitting so beautifully all over my skin,' she said.

'It looks so pretty. It fills everything in.'

The affordable foundation comes in 10 different colours - from porcelain to truffle - and ships worldwide at a reasonable rate.

The website describes it as 'a feathery liquid mousse' that blends into a 'flawless' and 'more natural' base.

Other reviews match those statements, with many calling it their 'holy grail'.

'I'm so glad that I discovered this foundation. I get compliments every time! Super in love with this and will continue using it,' one person said.

'I'm not even sure where I came across the advertisement for Phoera but I'm sure glad I did,' another said

'I have a lot of t-zone redness and this soft matte liquid foundation is full coverage and works well.

'I have tried a lot of foundations that say they cover redness but they either don't or they do for about two hours and then it's showing through again. This last hours and it is not "cakey" and looks very natural.'
