The hype is already building towards Glastonbury Festival 2024. The UK's oldest and grandest music festival and one of the biggest in the world, this event has become an institution for Brits and global music fans alike.
While even Glasto has been impacted by the saturation and hyper-commercialisation of the music festival scene in recent years, there is still something magical about the venue. There's nothing quite like traipsing down to Somerset's Worthy Form in your wellies to see some of the biggest live acts in music today, curated as ever by farm owner Michael Eavis and his daughter, Emily.
Glastonbury embraces the spirit of peace and love, our primal predilection for a sense of community, the elements of the great outdoors, and freedom of artistic expression, arguably unlike any other festival since the original Woodstock. It's a place where hippiedom feels alive and well, whatever the cost of beer or whichever chart-topping star is performing.
So, what's happening at the festival this year? Who's performing, when and where? And how can you be a part of it? Well, Far Out has everything you need to know about Glastonbury Festival 2024 right here.
First up, when is Glastonbury 2024?Glastonbury 2024 takes place between Wednesday, June 26th, and Sunday, June 30th.
As usual, it occupies the last weekend of June, becoming the focus of media and public attention across the UK for those few days. The majority of the music and all of the big names will appear between Thursday and Sunday.
…and where is the Glastonbury Festival?Glastonbury Festival takes place on the grounds of Worthy Farm, just outside the small town of Glastonbury, Somerset, in southwest England.
It is situated within 20 miles of the M5 motorway and within 50 miles of the M3 from Greater London. Its nearest major cities are Bath and Bristol, from which there are railway links. The festival also puts on an official coach service from over 100 places around the UK, for which you can buy a ticket along with your festival ticket purchase.
The festival site includes camping grounds, which the majority of festival-goers take advantage of due to the site's lack of proximity to the town. However, there are some nearby hotels and bed and breakfasts, while neighbouring farms also offer camping facilities.
(Credits: Far Out / Lolapaloo) Who is headlining Glastonbury 2024?The festival's main headliners this year are British pop superstar Dua Lipa and Coldplay, who are headlining Glastonbury for a record fifth time, US R&B singer SZA, who's had three global top-five hits in the past year, and Shania Twain in Sunday's "Legend" headliner slot.
There are additional headliners on the festival's smaller stages, including Bristol punk band IDLES, American indie giants The National, and Justice, Jungle and Jamie XX offering the weekend's biggest dance sets. Irish post-punk group Fontaines D.C. Could play the role of show-stealers.
As if that's not enough, there'll be a show-stopping appearance from Hollywood A-lister Russell Crowe, too.
You can find a more detailed look at the festival's full line-up so far and the official Glastonbury 2024 poster here.
How many stages are there at Glastonbury? All in all, Glastonbury has a staggering 100+ stages for performing musicians, comedians, poets, dramatists, visual artists and more. That surely makes it unsurpassed by any other festival in the world for the sheer variety of music and art it offers.
As a music fan, you'll probably be focusing on the venue's five biggest music stages: the Pyramid Stage, the Other Stage, the West Holts Stage, the Woodsies Stage (actually a giant tent) and the Park Stage.
The Pyramid Stage is Glastonbury's biggest and most iconic, where the main headliners have performed every festival since 1985. It has hosted some of the most significant events in the recent history of live music, including Elton John's farewell last year, the Rolling Stones' epic performance in 2013, Pulp's last-minute crowd-pleaser in 1995, Jay-Z's cover of 'Wonderwall in 2008, and Beyoncé's pop takeover in 2011.
(Credits: Far Out / Glastonbury Festival) When does Glastonbury start? The music starts as early as 11.30am each day on many stages (from Thursday, June 27th). Meanwhile, other performances and activities will be going on pretty much all day every day from Wednesday, June 26th.
What time does Glastonbury finish?Musical performances tend to finish around 1:00am each night, sometimes going over their time limit. So the very last shows at Glastonbury 2024 should be done by 2:00am on the morning of July 1st.
There was controversy about the finishing time of one of last year's most anticipated performances, as Lana Del Rey's headline slot was cut half an hour before she'd planned to finish. This decision was due to the strict nighttime curfew the festival organisers have to adhere to according to their agreement with the local council. Del Rey began her performance half an hour late and so suffered the consequences, much to the anger of her fans.
How much is a Glastonbury ticket?A standard Glastonbury ticket this year cost £355, plus a £5 processing fee. Purchasers automatically paid a £75 upfront, before having the rest of the cost taken from their payment method in early April.
The great news is, if you managed to get a festival ticket you don't have to pay extra for accommodation. Just bring your own tent, and you have access to the festival's camping grounds and facilities for free.
That is unless you want a more glamorous form of camping. Then you can go for one of Glastonbury's Bell Tents, with bedding included. A four-person Bell Tent will set you back £950 for five nights.
When do Glastonbury tickets go on sale?Glastonbury 2024 tickets have already gone on sale multiple times. In order to be eligible to purchase a ticket at all, you had to register your details by October 30th, 2023.
General admission tickets then went on sale in early November 2023. As they do pretty much every year, tickets sold out in under an hour.
(Credits: Far Out / Alamy) When is the Glastonbury tickets resale?Resale windows for tickets to the 2024 festival grounds and coach transportation were opened at 6:00pm on Thursday, April 18th, and Sunday, April 21st.
These windows are now closed, the latter after the last tickets sold out within 22 minutes.
How to get Glastonbury tickets nowUnfortunately, as far as anyone is aware, there won't be any more openings for Glastonbury 2024 ticket sales. The event is now completely sold out.
If you've managed to get a ticket, pat yourself on the back. You've bagged yourself a place at the most celebrated music show on earth.
If you've missed out, there's always next year. Keep your eyes peeled in the run-up to the event just in case, and otherwise (if you're in the UK), enjoy the free-to-air coverage of performances across the BBC. And be ready for next October, by which point ticket sale dates for Glastonbury 2025 should have been announced.

Glastonbury 2024: How To Get Tickets In The Re-sale And Everything You Need To Know
We're just 10 weeks away from the gates to Glastonbury 2024 being thrown open for another weekend of magic. Glasto 2023 saw 200,000 people head down to Worthy Farm for the UK's biggest festival. Now, this weekend will be your very last change to get tickets to the festival in the re-sale.
The Somerset-based festival is renowned not just for being one of the biggest festivals in the world but also one of the hardest to get tickets for. It started when coach and ticket packages sold out in 25 minutes, and then the general ticket sale sold out in just under an hour. But don't worry – all hope is not lost.
The Glastonbury 2024 line-up has now been shared – with confirmation that Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA will headline the iconic Pyramid Stage this summer. Shania Twain, meanwhile, will perform in the coveted legends slot on the Sunday. Check out the rest of the bill here.
Tickets for Glastonbury 2024 first went on sale in November, with the re-sale taking place this week. Here's all the information you need to help you secure passes for this year's festival.
When will Glastonbury 2024 take place? It has been announced that, keeping with tradition, next year's festival will be taking place on the final weekend of June from Wednesday June 26 through to Sunday June 30, 2024 at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset.
How much will tickets for Glastonbury 2024 be?Standard tickets for Glastonbury 2024 will cost £355 plus a £5 booking fee. As is now tradition, you can pay a £75 deposit per attendee before paying the full balance in the first week of April.
If you're buying coach tickets with your festival ticket, you must pay for the coach ticket in full at the time of purchase. Coach ticket prices vary depending on departure point, but typically sit between £40 and £150.

If you missed out on tickets in the first two sales, there's still a chance to grab tickets in the re-sale. These are tickets where the original purchasers haven't paid their balance in full by the cut-off date in early April and will be put back up for sale.
Glastoannounced the re-sale date for 2024, with ticket and coach travel packages made available from 6pm BST on Thursday (April 18) – but selling out in just 18 minutes.
Now, general admission tickets going live at 9am BST the following Sunday (April 21). They'll be on sale via Seetickets here.
Any cancelled accommodation options (Worthy View, Sticklinch, Campervan/Caravan passes) will then go on sale at 11am BST on April 21.
Those wanting to purchase tickets in either re-sale will need to be registered to do so beforehand. "If you are not registered, we advise registering by Friday April 12 to allow for the registration to be processed and resubmitted if needed," a post on Glastonbury's official website reads.
Ticket and coach travel packages are limited to two per transaction, and general admission tickets are limited to four. A registration number will be required for each ticket you are booking. Visit here for more information.
This comes after Glasto co-organiser Emily Eavis revealed that the festival had seen its "highest percentage of ticket balances paid ever". "Incredible. Thanks so much everyone," she added.
"There will be a resale of the (very limited) returned tickets later this month. Info to follow on that."
Glastonbury's website previously stated that 2024 ticketholders have from 9am on April 1 until 11.59pm on April 7 to pay off their remaining balance, so the re-sale should take place in the weeks following that. The website reads: "Any tickets for which the balance has not been paid during the balance payment window will be refunded £50 (a £25 admin fee will be retained) automatically onto the card on which they were booked. This should happen within 7 working days of the balance payment period ending."
Expect there to another hectic rush after re-sale tickets, after Glasto 2023 sold out again in just six minutes back in April last year.
How and when do I to register for tickets to Glastonbury 2024?Before you can even think about getting in the dreaded online queue for tickets when the on-sale day arrives, you need to register to be able to access tickets. This is a move adopted by Glastonbury to help cut down on touts and means each general admission ticket will come with a photo of the ticket holder printed on it.
You can register on the Glastonbury website here before Friday April 12 to be in with a chance of securing tickets in the re-sale.
Back in August, the festival gave advice for those wishing to get tickets and told fans that any Glastonbury ticket registrations submitted prior to 2020 need to be reviewed and confirmed before the next ticket sale. You can do that here.
When did for Glastonbury 2024 go on general sale? The first ticket sales for the 2024 festival were delayed by two weeks on November 2. Coach and ticket packages then went on sale at 6pm GMT on Thursday November 16 (and sold out in just 25 minutes) with the general sale following at 9am GMT on Sunday November 19 when they sold out in just under an hour.
Who's on the line-up and playing Glastonbury 2024?Freshly announced, we've got Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA headlining the iconic Pyramid Stage. Shania Twain, meanwhile, will perform in the coveted legends slot on the Sunday.
Other acts on the poster include LCD Soundsystem, Little Simz, Burna Boy, PJ Harvey, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Kiwanuka, Janelle Monae, Olivia Dean, Paloma Faith and Keane – all of whom will appear on the Pyramid Stage.
Idles, Disclosure and The National are scheduled to top the Other Stage. Elsewhere on the line-up are the likes of The Streets, Two Door Cinema Club, Avril Lavigne, The Last Dinner Party, Jungle, Justice, Bloc Party, Fontaines D.C., Yard Act, Arlo Parks and Gossip.
Many more acts will be announced across the coming months, but check out the full line-up poster so far below…
How can I get into Glastonbury 2024 for free?Didn't manage to get a ticket or simply can't afford one? There are alternative ways to get into the festival – as long as you're prepared to put in a bit of work. Numerous charities have a presence at the festival and require volunteers to help out across the weekend. In return for your ticket, you'll be asked to complete shifts across the festival – the length and number of these vary, depending on which charity you attend with. Be warned: you may have to pay a deposit for your ticket, which can be the same price as the entry to the festival. For more information, visit Glastonbury's jobs page.
Oxfam also put out a call for charity volunteers at Glastonbury 2024, as well as music fans to help out at Reading & Leeds, Download and more.
