Summer festivals you can still get tickets for - Stuff

After an enforced hiatus of far too long, New Zealand's summer of festivals is well underway. While you may have missed the boat for events like Northland's Northern Bass, there is still time to scramble together a summer festival plan.

We compiled our festival picks with tickets still available, which was accurate at the time of writing.

New Year's

Rhythm and Alps

Wanaka will play host to one of the South Island's biggest parties to see in the end of 2022. While the event is "on track" to selling out according to the promoter, tickets are still available from the festival website.

The lineup for the three-day festival includes Marlon Williams, Andy C, Dimension and Kiwi act Kora.

Rhythm and Vines

If seeing in the new year to the likes of Sir Dave Dobbyn, Dizzee Rascal and Dimension sounds like you, tickets are still available for the 20th anniversary of the Gisborne three-day festival. Camping passes are still available for the Meadow Camp and festival passes are still on sale from Moshtix.

Rolling Meadows

North Canterbury's new two-day music festival featuring international and domestic drum and bass, house, techno, dubstep and hip-hop acts including Pendulum, Savage and Scribe, as well as a national ramp skateboarding competition, is being held in Kaipara on December 30 and December 31.

Rolling Meadows will be held at The Bone Line and limited tickets are available from Ticket Fairy.

2023

Summer Haze

With a lineup including Shapeshifter, Fat Freddy's Drop and Australian rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Summer Haze is hitting Tauranga on December 29 and Matakana on January 4. Tickets are available for both days from Ticket Fairy.

Beach Break

Kiwi favourites Shapeshifter are also headlining Beach Break this summer. Joined by Australian band Ocean Alley in Whangamata on December 28 and Kiwi legends Kora in Nelson on February 4, tickets are available for both events from the Beach Break website.

Golden Lights

January 7 will see controversial UK rapper Dizzee Rascal with Dimension and Alison Wonderland amongst others at Auckland's Trust Arena. Tickets are still available from Moshtix.

Gold Rush

Dizzee Rascal, Dimension and Alison Wonderland will also headline Waihi's Gold Rush festival on January 3, 2023. Tickets are still available from Moshtix.

Contraversial UK rapper Dizzee Rascal is scheduled to perform Rhythm and Vines, Gold Rush and Golden Lights in January.

Gardens Festival

1990s legend Fat Boy Slim will hit the decks at Gardens Festival at Auckland's Victoria Park on January 29 with tickets available from Moshtix.

If you do miss seeing the Praise You artist at Victoria Park, or a festival vibe is not your thing, he has added two intimate shows to his list of six New Zealand shows, playing Waiheke Island's Stonyridge Winery on January 31 and Auckland's Sky Tower on February 1.

Bay Dreams

A combined total of 50,000 punters are expected to celebrate in Mount Maunganui and Nelson for Bay Dreams 2023.

Australian band Sticky Fingers and drum and bass outfit Hybrid Minds will join the lineup at Trustpower Baypark in Mount Maunganui on January 3rd and at Trafalgar Park in Nelson on January 5th.

Phoebe Bridgers will take the stage at Laneway Festival's new home of Western Springs.

Laneway

After selling-out the original Albert Park venue in less than two hours, Auckland's loved indie festival, Laneway shifted to Western Springs stadium for the Auckland Anniversary gig on Monday, January 30, 2023.

Tickets are still available from the event website. Acts confirmed include Finneas O'Connell, the brother of Billie Eilish; Haim; Joji; Phoebe Bridgers; and the Beths.

Welcome to the Jungle

Held on the Northern Bass Jungle stage at Worsfold Farm in Kaitaia, Welcome to the Jungle will bring the likes of Sub focus, Alix Perez and Dillinja to the stage on Saturday February 18.

Electric Avenue

Lorde and Flume will be the top acts at next year's Electric Avenue music festival in Christchurch's Hagley Park and they'll be joined by almost 50 acts across five stages.

Iain Laidlaw/Kate Green

Marlon Williams and Lorde are both scheduled to play summer festivals in New Zealand.

Taking place on February 25, and tickets are available form Ticket Fairy.

Homegrown

The all-Kiwi festival is returning to Wellington in 2023 with Shapeshifter, Drax Project and Shihad among those confirmed to play.

Hitting Wellington's waterfront on March 18, tickets are available from the Homegrown website.

Nostalgia

Ferrymead Historic Village in Christchurch will play host to an all-ages festival featuring Reb Fountain, 2022 Taite Prize Winner Anthonie Tonnon and Don McGlashan on February 11.

WOMAD

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, New Plymouth's Bowl of Brooklands will host Sampa The Great, Deva Mahal, and Fly My Pretties for WOMAD in March, 2023.

Womad NZ 2023 features 29 music and dance acts and ten speakers from Afghanistan to Zambia between March 17-19, 2023.
